Colombia El Jardin-Community Funded Coffee Subscription (Flat Rate Shipping)

$57.00 USD

When you purchase this quarter's subscription to Community Funded Coffee (CFC), you are pre-financing a portion of Jorge Rojas' crop in order to minimize financial risk and assist with the upfront harvest costs for Jorge's farm, El Jardin. In exchange you'll regularly receive Jorge's outstanding coffee, roasted by Junior's Roasted Coffee. Once you purchase a share you will receive monthly newsletters that provide you with an in-depth tour of the farm, introduce the farmer who is raising the coffee, keep you informed about the status of your share, and offer insight into the workings of the coffee supply stream and your role in it.

A CFC subscription makes a great gift for any coffee lover or coffee drinker who is passionate about equity in the coffee supply stream. If you wish to give the subscription as a gift, enter the recipient's address as the shipping address. Subscriptions do not include receipts in the shipments.

Important: Please see our Q1-Q4 estimated sign-up and delivery windows calendar (in photos). Depending on when you subscribe, it can take from 1-5 months for a quarter's coffee to be harvested, milled, imported, roasted, packaged and then shipped to you. *The minimum duration for a share is 1 quarter (3 months).*

PRODUCT DETAILS

COLOMBIA EL JARDIN, LATE HARVEST

El Jardin is a coffee farm owned by Jorge Rojas. The farm is situated in the Planadas municipality in Tolima, a region in central western Colombia. This CFC subscription will be for Jorge's "fly crop" or late harvest. Like the main crop, the fly crop is a combination of two Caturra variety lots. Jorge focuses on organic farming practices, and hasn't used agrichemical inputs in over eight years. He is a member and employee of the ASOPEP cooperative, and has received ample cupping training. Jorge is driven by coffee quality and processing experimentation, and processes his coffee using an anaerobic style of fermentation. This process can give coffees dynamic flavor profiles, complex and well rounded. After processing and drying, the coffee is sold to Shared Source, who mills, exports, and imports the coffee.

RELATIONSHIP TO JUNIORS

This is the third year that we have worked with coffee from Jorge Rojas. We were first introduced to Jorge's coffee through the importer, Shared Source. Shared Source has been buying this coffee for several years. Based on this long standing relationship and Jorge's meticulous record keeping, Shared Source thought Jorge would make the perfect Cost of Production Covered Project partner. We aim to have each coffee in this subscription Cost of Production Covered, and aim to ensure that farmers receive 30% gross margin on their production costs from the coffee sold to subscribers.
